The Problem
Many students and adults are afraid to report misconduct because they fear backlash from management or their peers for whistleblowing.
For example, over 50% of bullying incidents go unreported. Only 35% of sexual harassment cases are reported. In 8 of 10 workplace violence incidents, the killer makes his or her intentions known by showing a gun to co-workers or talking about the impending attack, though no one reports these acts to management.
The Solution
A web-based and cost effective software called TIPS (Threat Assessment, Incident Management & Prevention Services)
In short, TIPS provides:
And, TIPS is award winning - TIPS' creator was recognized by Risk and Insurance Magazine as a 2011 Risk Innovator, and a "Responsibility Leader" by Liberty Mutual Insurance.
How does TIPS work?
1. A button will be placed on your website or intranet home page. If in a school community, anyone such as students, faculty, staff, counselors, or parents can make a report. If an organization, anyone with access to the button can make a report.
2. The reporter can choose to make an anonymous or non-anonymous report, depending on what he or she feels comfortable doing.
3. The report is automatically uploaded to TIPS, and pre-designated team members selected by your organization are notified immediately via email of the incident.
4. TIPS then provides the capability to document the details of resulting actions taken by the team. Access rights to varying information can be granted depending on team-members' organizational level.
5. All documentation is stored and searchable - ready to provide during any internal or outside investigation.
